All cockpit panels installed

All pilot instrument panels are finally back in place, and the project is once again looking like a real cockpit.
One of the biggest tasks was replacing a severely corroded aluminum panel. A custom-made replacement from Germany required extensive fitting due to its complex shape, but the result is a perfect fit.
The glareshield was restored by combining the best parts from three original units. Since the simulator uses instrument panels from D-ABUD, its better-illuminated glareshield was chosen and fully refurbished.
Next comes the cockpit wiring, with all panels being connected via D-SUB harnesses to bring the instruments back to life.
The first officer’s seat has been restored and upgraded with a bass shaker, while the captain’s seat is still missing a right armrest and lap belt.
Another major milestone is the completion of the simulator building, allowing work to continue on the trim wheel drive and electronics.
If all goes as planned, this autumn the first switches will click and the cockpit lights will shine again, marking the transition from a static display to a fully functional classic airliner cockpit.
