At the moment I’m very busy getting the 115V/400Hz power into the cockpit. Over time, I had collected three static inverters for this purpose, and two of them turned out to be defective. The Flitetronic PC17 works well and is pleasantly quiet. It will be installed underneath the cockpit relay panel behind the flight engineer. This should provide a realistic 400Hz power source along with a quiet humming sound that comes very close to the original. The rest of the sound environment will be added acoustically using the 4GB of quality sound recordings that I thankfully received from various models.
So far I still haven’t managed to get the fluorescent tubes working. I checked everything with a multimeter and even replaced the ballast, but they remain dark. We’ll see… eventually, there will be the illuminating moment.
In addition, the large panel with all the circuit breakers has now been installed. The two important switches on this panel, Radio Master 1 and 2, were defective and first had to be practically drowned in contact cleaner. You can actually get almost 100% of non-functioning switches working again this way, provided they are still mechanically intact.
Other than that, I’m waiting for the control boards for the FE station lighting. Everything is wired up and ready.
